The Partnership for Healthy Cities (PHC) Summit 2026, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, brought together officials from 55 cities and renewed the worldwide commitment to cutting disease. PHC is a network of 74 cities focused on preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and injuries, and Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru are among its Indian members. NCDs are long-lasting illnesses that are not passed from person to person, such as heart disease, cancer, respiratory disease and diabetes. NCDs and injuries together account for more than 80% of deaths globally.
