A new plant species, Osbeckia zubeengargiana, has been discovered in the grasslands of Manas National Park in Assam. It belongs to the Melastomataceae family and has been named after Zubeen Garg. Separately, Myiophanes kempi, a rare cave-dwelling assassin bug of the Reduviidae family, has been rediscovered in the Andaman Islands after almost 100 years. Both findings underline the rich and still under-documented biodiversity of India's Northeast and island ecosystems.
