The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 100 additional MBBS seats for Tamil Nadu, applicable from the 2026–27 academic year.
- The Government Medical College in Namakkal will get 50 extra seats.
- The Government Medical College in Tiruppur will also get 50 extra seats.
- The NMC is the national regulator for medical education in India.
The increase expands opportunities for students seeking government medical seats in Tamil Nadu and strengthens the State's medical education capacity in the western districts.
