A new Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has been inaugurated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The centre is meant to strengthen weather forecasting and disaster preparedness across northern India. Regional Meteorological Centres function under the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and coordinate forecasts, warnings and observation networks for the states in their region, helping farmers, disaster management agencies and the public prepare for extreme weather events.
