Botanists of the Botanical Survey of India have described a plant species new to science, named Ceropegia tamilnaduensis. It was found growing on the hill slopes of Nellai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. The sanctuary received wildlife sanctuary status in 2015 and contains 29 mountain peaks, among them Sivagiri Mala, which rises to 1,748 metres. The find adds a new species to the recorded plant wealth of the State.
