New Delhi hosted the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum with the theme “Fostering Parliaments for People-Centric Development.” Legislators from BRICS members — Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa and the UAE — took part. India holds the 2026 BRICS Chairship under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The Joint Declaration sought reform of the United Nations and its Security Council for fairer representation, including of the Global South. It also covered terrorism, climate change, sustainable development, digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and reaffirmed the UN Charter's principles. The forum will meet again in 2027 under China's Chairship.
