A new frog species, Amolops ammachi, has been found in the Jampui Hills of Tripura. It belongs to the cascade frog genus Amolops. The species was named in honour of Padmini Varkey, known as 'Ammachi'. The discovery was made by a team led by S. D. Biju of the University of Delhi, who is popularly called the 'Frogman of India' for his extensive work on Indian amphibians.
