The National Mango Festival 2026 was inaugurated at Rayapettai in Chennai by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, making Chennai the venue for this year's celebration of the fruit. The festival is being held to promote mango cultivation and to showcase the many varieties of the fruit grown by farmers. Such events give growers a platform to reach consumers and traders directly and help popularise lesser-known varieties alongside well-established ones.
