A National Environmental Standard Laboratory (NESL) has opened at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi. It will test, calibrate and certify air-pollution monitoring instruments for Indian weather conditions and set Indian standards for them, which supports the National Clean Air Programme. Only the United Kingdom has a similar national-level laboratory, so India's is the second in the world.
