The Ministry of Coal has stated that the National Coal Gasification Mission aims to build 100 million tonnes (MT) of coal gasification capacity by 2030. The scheme is expected to use around 75 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of coal. To attract investment, it offers financial incentives of up to 20% of the cost of eligible plant and machinery.
