NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has been fully assembled and has entered its final phase of testing before its launch in 2026. Seen as the next major observatory after the Hubble and James Webb space telescopes, it carries a 2.4-metre mirror and can image an area of the sky about 100 times larger than Hubble. The mission will study dark energy and dark matter, investigate the expansion of the universe and search for exoplanets. It will be launched on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket to the L2 point in space.
