A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, referred to as Arnab, crossed the coast near Kalingapatnam, between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur, and later weakened into a depression over Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh. Located near Nuapada in Odisha and moving north-northwestward, it was not classified as a cyclonic storm and was expected to weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area. The name 'Arnab', meaning ocean in Bengali, was contributed by Bangladesh to the regional cyclone naming list. Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and parts of West Bengal faced heavy rain, strong winds, rough seas and local flood and landslide risks.
