A rare philomela form of the Common Wanderer butterfly (Pareronia hippia) has been recorded for the first time at Poothurai in Tamil Nadu's Villupuram district. Until now, the species has historically been linked more often with north-eastern India and its adjoining regions, making the Villupuram sighting a notable addition to Tamil Nadu's butterfly records.
