Depalpur in Madhya Pradesh has become the first city under the Swachh Shehar Jodi initiative to reach Zero Legacy Waste, after treating 1,250 metric tonnes of accumulated old waste. The work was done under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 with help from Indore Municipal Corporation. The town now has 100% door-to-door collection with four-way segregation. Around 4.5 tonnes of plastic, metal and glass went to authorised recyclers, 50-60 tonnes of Refuse Derived Fuel were sent to Indore's NEPRA plant for cement factories, and over 500 Indore ragpickers took part.
