A tiger has been recorded by a camera trap in the Kishkindha hills of Koppal district, Karnataka, the first report from this forest area in nearly five decades. Officials believe it may have moved in from the Srisailam wildlife corridor in Andhra Pradesh. The Kishkindha hills lie on the northern bank of the Tungabhadra River, opposite the historic site of Hampi. The surrounding plateau is estimated to be about 3,000 million years old, among the oldest surface features on Earth.
