A new Himalayan flowering plant has been named Impatiens nimspurjai in honour of Nepali mountaineer Nirmal 'Nimsdai' Purja. First spotted in 2011 in Nepal's western Myagdi district, it was formally described after more than a decade of study. The species belongs to the genus Impatiens of the family Balsaminaceae and grows on humid slopes and forest edges at about 2,800–2,900 metres. The name recognises Purja's climbing feats and his environmental work through the Nimsdai Foundation.
