The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has started the Road RADAR (Real-time Air Pollution Detection Across Roads) initiative, which relies on daily ground-level surveys to pinpoint where air pollution originates in Delhi. Field reports are geo-tagged and filed through the MCD-311 mobile app so that civic agencies can act quickly. Roughly 18,000 km of roads are surveyed each month, and 11 categories of sources are tracked, among them road dust, garbage, biomass and plastic burning, and construction and demolition waste. The aim is better real-time monitoring, accountability and faster redressal of complaints.
