Gujarat has rolled out the Lake and Air Watch initiative to monitor and improve the health of lakes and air quality in its cities. The programme uses satellite technology to track changes in lake area, algal growth, waste and water quality indicators. Real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring will be installed in 17 municipal corporations and 152 municipal areas. The system will send automatic alerts whenever air pollution rises or lake conditions deteriorate, helping authorities respond quickly.
