The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has set up an Expert Committee on Invasive Alien Species to tackle the ecological and socio-economic threats these species pose in India. The committee will draw up a national list of invasive species and identify high-risk species across states. It will suggest strategies for prevention, control, eradication and ecological restoration, while supporting biodiversity conservation and India's national and global environmental commitments.
