Health Ministry Approves Lifetime Validity for FSSAI Licences

Save

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved lifetime validity for licences issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Food businesses will no longer have to renew licences again and again, cutting paperwork and compliance costs. The turnover ceiling for basic registration has been raised from ₹12 lakh to ₹1.5 crore. Street food vendors registered with Municipal Corporations or Town Vending Committees will be treated as automatically registered with FSSAI. A risk-based, technology-driven inspection system is also planned to strengthen food safety monitoring.
