The Kerala Assembly has sent the Kerala Nativity Card Bill to its Subject Committee on Land Revenue and Devaswom for examination.
- The Bill seeks to give statutory backing to the nativity card, an authoritative identity proof for Keralites.
- The card, carrying a photograph for permanent identification, will replace the existing nativity certificate.
- It may be issued to people born in Kerala, or to those with Kerala-born ancestors, provided they have not taken foreign citizenship.
