India has launched the Zero Prize, described as the country's first results-based environmental award. Unlike awards that reward plans or intentions, it recognises pollution reduction that has been verified on the ground. The prize carries a total corpus of ₹5 crore, out of which ₹1 crore each is earmarked for reductions in air pollution, water pollution and land pollution. The design is meant to push States, cities and organisations towards measurable environmental outcomes.
