Poland exited the Ottawa Convention, the 1997 treaty that prohibits the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of anti-personnel mines. Poland had ratified it in 2012 and destroyed its stockpile in 2016, but cited security concerns along its borders with Russia's Kaliningrad and Belarus after the Ukraine war. Anti-tank mines fall under Amended Protocol II (1996) of the 1980 Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons. India, Russia and the US are not parties.
