During French President Emmanuel Macron's visit, India and France raised their relationship to a 'Special Global Strategic Partnership', and 21 agreements and documents were exchanged. The two had set up a Strategic Partnership in 1998, India's first with a Western country. The new framework spans defence, nuclear energy, space, climate, trade, technology, critical minerals and people-to-people ties. Both are following the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, and civil nuclear cooperation includes the Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant in Maharashtra.
