India and France launched the India-France Year of Innovation to deepen cooperation in technology and research, encouraging links between start-ups, scientists and tech companies. Leaders discussed artificial intelligence, defence ties and digital partnerships, and both backed safe, ethical and human-centric AI. Defence cooperation includes India's purchase of Dassault Aviation's Rafale fighters. The India-France Strategic Partnership, begun in 1998, continues to grow, particularly in the Indo-Pacific.
