A site at Sorgapallam, also called Sembodai, near Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Ariyalur district has been identified as the memorial of Nathamunigal, the first Acharya of Sri Vaishnavism. His idol and an idol of Srinivasa Perumal with Sridevi and Bhoodevi had been found there earlier, and two temples were later built for them. Nathamunigal lived in the 9th century CE and is credited with compiling the 4,000 hymns of the Nalayira Divya Prabandham.
