Tamil Nadu met the 95-95-95 goal set under Phase V of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP-V) in September 2026. The goal requires that 95% of people living with HIV are aware of their status, 95% of those diagnosed are on antiretroviral therapy (ART), and 95% of those on treatment have a suppressed viral load. Prevalence fell from 0.40% (2010) to 0.19% (2023). About 1,63,151 people are on treatment, backed by 2,656 testing centres in PHCs and government hospitals, with awareness drives in 2,329 colleges and 9,830 schools. The goal is an HIV/AIDS-free Tamil Nadu by 2030.
