The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation announced new base years for India's main economic indicators. Gross Domestic Product and the Index of Industrial Production move to a 2022-23 base, while the Consumer Price Index shifts to a 2024 base. The revised series were scheduled for release on 12 February 2026 (CPI), 27 February 2026 (GDP) and 28 May 2026 (IIP). The exercise is meant to make official statistics more accurate, transparent, relevant and internationally comparable.
