Scientists of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics observed shocks driven by a coronal mass ejection (CME) by combining data from the Gauribidanur radio telescope and the Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC) on Aditya-L1. VELC studies the Sun's corona in visible wavelengths, while the Gauribidanur telescope records low-frequency solar radio emissions below 150 MHz. The team estimated that the shock from the CME of May 27, 2024, formed about 130,000 km from the Sun and was moving at nearly 1,700 km per second close to the Sun.
