Among India's four largest State economies, namely Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat, Maharashtra recorded the slowest growth in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) between 2021-22 and 2024-25, at about 43%. Karnataka grew the fastest at about 65%, followed by Gujarat at 48% and Tamil Nadu at 47%. Despite its slower pace, Maharashtra remains India's largest State economy, with a projected GSDP of ₹42.67 lakh crore in 2024-25. Together, these four States play a major role in national growth, investment and industrial development.
