Joint Squad for Health (JOSH) Teams were rolled out under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan by the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister in New Delhi on 8 October 2026. Young people will help end tuberculosis (TB) via early detection, treatment support and fighting stigma. Phase one covers 55 districts in 11 States and Union Territories. Each team pairs five National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets with five MY Bharat Volunteers under a Class-I supervising officer. Members encourage TB screening, nutrition counselling and steady treatment, aided by the TB Mukt Bharat App and an AI assistant, Khushi Avatar (e-Sangini). The goal is a TB-free India ahead of the 2030 SDG deadline.
