ISRO successfully launched the Earth observation satellite EOS-05 aboard GSLV-F17 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, placing it in a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. EOS-05 is India's first imaging satellite built to work from geosynchronous orbit, allowing repeated observation of wide areas. Its data will aid agriculture, disaster management, water resources, forestry, environmental monitoring and urban planning. The mission was the 19th flight of the GSLV, showing India's ability to reach high-energy orbits.
