In April 2026, seven-year-old Ishank Singh from Ranchi, Jharkhand, set a world record by swimming 29 km across the Palk Strait. He started from Talaimannar (Sri Lanka) and reached Dhanushkodi (Tamil Nadu) in just 9 hours and 50 minutes, becoming the youngest and fastest swimmer to complete this challenging route.
