International Clouded Leopard Day was observed on 4 August to raise awareness about conserving clouded leopards, the smallest of the big cats.
There are two species, the Mainland Clouded Leopard (Neofelis nebulosa) and the Sunda Clouded Leopard (Neofelis diardi), both listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade and human-wildlife conflict. India's Conservation Action Plan covers 14 priority landscapes.
