A Slender Loris Conservation Centre, the first facility of its kind in India, has been opened in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu to support the conservation of and research on the species. The slender loris is a small tree-dwelling primate found in the dry forests and scrublands of southern India and Sri Lanka. The State had earlier notified the Kadavur Slender Loris Sanctuary, which spreads over 11,806.56 hectares across seven blocks in Dindigul and Karur districts and includes reserve forests such as Thoppaswimalai, Thanneerkaradu, Mudimalai and D. Edayapatti.
