The proposal for India's first offshore airport, in Maharashtra, has been approved for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The airport is planned near Kore Beach in Palghar district. Once built, it will become the third international airport serving the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), easing pressure on the existing airports of the region.
