The Indian Coast Guard has commissioned ICGS Achal, a new-generation Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) of the Adamya class, at Goa Shipyard Limited. It is the fifth ship in a planned series of eight vessels of this class. Fast Patrol Vessels are used for coastal patrolling, surveillance and the protection of India’s maritime zones. The induction strengthens the Coast Guard’s ability to guard the coastline and respond quickly to incidents at sea.
