India has validated Truenat HR-HPV-Plus, the country's first indigenously developed screening test for Human Papillomavirus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer. The test was developed by Molbio Diagnostics. It is also the first home-grown point-of-care HPV screening test to fully satisfy international validation criteria. Because point-of-care tests can be run close to the patient without a central laboratory, the kit is expected to widen access to early cervical cancer screening, particularly in rural and resource-poor settings.
