India to finalise long-term uranium supply deal with Uzbekistan

Save
India has decided to conclude a long-term uranium supply agreement with Uzbekistan, which produces nearly 6.6% of the world's uranium, to bolster nuclear energy security. India runs 24 nuclear reactors with 8.78 GW capacity and targets 100 GW by 2047. It already has a long-term deal with Kazakhstan, the top producer; Canada's Cameco will supply about 22 million pounds of uranium ore concentrate between 2027 and 2035; and arrangements for Australian uranium exports under the 2015 Australia-India Nuclear Cooperation Agreement have been finalised.
