India signs the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime

Save

India's External Affairs Minister has signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, deepening the country's role in global efforts to tackle cyber offences. It is the first comprehensive worldwide treaty on cybercrime and seeks to strengthen international cooperation. The Convention supports cross-border investigations, the sharing of electronic evidence and the prosecution of offenders, and helps countries probe crimes involving Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). It addresses the technical and legal challenges posed by transnational cybercrime and also supports the recovery of criminal proceeds linked to such crimes.
