Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India's standing as the world's largest vaccine producer and supplier by volume. India makes nearly 60% of global vaccines and meets over 65% of the WHO's routine immunisation needs. Its bioeconomy reached USD 195.3 billion in 2025, growing 18% year-on-year. The Ind-CEPI Mission produced India's first mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, GEMCOVAC-19, and the DBT–BIRAC–CEPI partnership backs vaccine research and epidemic preparedness. The BRIC-THSTI Bioassay Laboratory is one of 17 CEPI centralised network labs supporting global vaccine development.
