India has approved Pluvicto, the first radioligand therapy (RLT) in the country for treating advanced prostate cancer. Radioligand therapy is a form of targeted nuclear medicine in which a radioactive substance is attached to a molecule that seeks out and binds to cancer cells, delivering radiation directly to the tumour while limiting harm to surrounding healthy tissue. The approval adds a new treatment option for patients whose prostate cancer has progressed despite conventional therapies.
