The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, has installed a new X-band Doppler Weather Radar at Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra under Mission Mausam. The radar will improve real-time monitoring of weather systems and sharpen short-term forecasts for the surrounding regions, aiding timely warnings for heavy rain and other severe weather events.
