Team AgniRath of IIT Madras finished third at the Sasol Solar Challenge 2026, held in South Africa, driving its solar-powered car named Aagneya. With this result the team became the first from India to take part in the event and also the first Indian team to bring home a trophy from it. The Sasol Solar Challenge is a long-distance race for vehicles that run on solar energy, and the achievement highlights Indian student engineering in clean mobility.
