Bodhan AI, a startup incubated at IIT Madras, has launched four open-weight artificial intelligence models for Indian languages in partnership with AI4Bharat. The models handle speech recognition, speech generation, machine translation and Optical Character Recognition (OCR). Being open-weight, the models can be freely downloaded and adapted by developers, which is expected to support wider use of AI tools in Indian languages.
