IIT Bhubaneswar has developed ArsenSafe, a portable device that quickly detects arsenic contamination in drinking water without the need for laboratory facilities. The handheld, field-deployable tool can test water directly at its source and requires only minimal training to operate. Arsenic in groundwater is a serious public health concern in several Indian states, and a low-cost on-the-spot test can help authorities and communities identify unsafe sources faster and take corrective action.
