The International Energy Agency's Electricity 2026 report projects worldwide power demand to rise by 3.6% annually through 2030, driven by electric vehicles, data centres and air conditioning. Low-emission sources such as renewables and nuclear are expected to cover most of the extra demand and could supply nearly half of global electricity by 2030, while power-sector CO2 emissions are likely to plateau.
