Hero MotoCorp has launched its first flex-fuel motorcycle, while Maruti Suzuki has introduced India's first flex-fuel passenger vehicle. Flex-Fuel Vehicles (FFVs) are designed to run on petrol as well as petrol-ethanol blends, including fuel with up to 85% ethanol, known as E85. Such vehicles support India's ethanol blending programme by reducing dependence on imported crude oil, cutting emissions and creating additional demand for ethanol produced from agricultural sources.
