The Government of India has approved a fresh set of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) covering 2031–2035. Under these commitments, India will cut the emissions intensity of its GDP by 47% by 2035 compared with 2005 levels, and will source 60% of its total electric power capacity from non-fossil fuels such as solar and wind by 2035. It also aims to build a carbon sink of 3.5–4.0 billion tonnes of CO₂ through forest and tree cover. The targets are submitted under the UNFCCC, are aligned with the Paris Agreement, and support India's goal of Net Zero emissions by 2070.
