Goa has become the second Indian State, after Kerala, to bring out a state-level Bird Atlas, released at the 9th Bird Festival of Goa in Valpoi. Using grid-based surveys, the atlas maps bird distribution and allows changes in populations to be tracked over time, aiding conservation, citizen science and evidence-based policy. A companion book, 'Birds of Goa: Konkani Nomenclature - Olakh Suknayanchi', records local Konkani names for birds.
